American Resorts Association, a trusted travel industry leader, reports that travelers looking for a vacation full of fun and sun can find it in Mexico, particularly in the country’s many world-famous resort destinations.

For U.S. travelers, not only are these Mexican resort towns closer than other tropical destinations, but they are also for the most part significantly more affordable. But though travel to Mexico is generally very cost-effective, American Resorts Association can assure vacationers that the quality of these destinations in terms of accommodations, activities, and natural beauty is on the same level with any other destination in the world.

The first resort town American Resorts Association recommends for travelers heading to Mexico is the incomparable Cabo San Lucas, on the tip of Baja California. One thousand miles south of San Diego.

This unique town sits at the point where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez and is famous for its striking desert beauty, and fun-loving atmosphere. With miles of stunning beaches, world-class dining and shopping, thriving sport fishing scene, and some of the most excellent golf courses in Latin America, it’s no mystery as to why Cabo is one of Mexico’s most popular destinations.

Across the Sea of Cortez on the mainland side, American Resorts Association recommends Puerto Vallarta, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, as a premier vacation destination.

Puerto Vallarta is known for its lush tropical scenery, crystal clear blue waters, and of course its legendary nightlife. And then there are the cobblestone streets of Vallarta’s historic town center, which features many fun cultural activities, and beautifully ornate Spanish colonial architecture. American Resorts Association also urges visitors to take advantage of the many tours that will take them inland to several pristine stops along one of the three rivers running through the area.

Heading farther south, American Resorts Association highly recommends the resort city of Cancun, on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Bordering both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, American Resorts Association suggests this tropical paradise not only for its gorgeous white sand beaches and world-class amenities but also for its proximity to some of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in the New World.

The Yucatan Peninsula, being once home to the mighty Mayan Empire, boasts many of the most famous historical sites from the pre-Columbian cultures of the Americas, including Tulum, Coba, and the sprawling ancient city of Chichen Itza. And Our travel experts remind travelers that Cancun is also home to the Great Mayan Reef, one of the largest living coral reef systems in the world, and a perfect place for snorkeling and scuba diving.

In Mexico, travelers will find some of the most beautiful and welcoming resort cities anywhere in the world. From the deserts of southern Baja to the tropics of the Yucatan, and everywhere in between, Mexico offers unique and unforgettable vacation experiences. We recommend every one of these resort destinations for travelers looking to slow down, enjoy the climate, and take in a little culture.
